TR-Grid was established in September 2003. The NGI belongs to TUBITAK ULAKBIM as the impulsive fact of grid related actions. TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) was established in 1963 with a mission to advance science and technology, conduct research and support Turkish researchers. ULAKBIM (Turkish Academic Network and Information Center) was founded in 1996 as one of the child institutions of TUBITAK. ULAKBIM, the Turkish NREN, is the coordinator of TR-Grid and grid projects in Turkey.
